The things food dreams are made of

Dinner @longrain last night, & boy was it amazing. What can I say I knew it would be delicious but that food was orgasmic. The flavors just hit you with a punch! My party & I arrived knowing that we would have to wait for a table. We were seated in the bar area and we ordered cocktails. When our cocktails arrived they were different sizes. After reading their cocktail list it promisies you tall refreshments so it was disappointing when a smallish glass is served to me. Especially when I look over at the table next to me & someone else has the exact same drink but in a large & beautifully garnished glass. The cocktail I ordered was the mojito, it lacked sugar & was extremely strong. After our first round of cocktails it is impossible to get the waiters attention. In fact no one approaches our table until we are ushered to our dining table, which is a long while later.

This is where our night begins, and once the wine is poured I have forgotten about our desertion . We order a few different dishes to share:
Whole fish, chili, lime & tamarind.
Caramelised pork hock, chili vinegar, crisp garlic.
Stir fried Chinese broccoli, snow peas, oyster sauce, crisp garlic.
Crisp pork belly, char grilled octopus, watermelon, ginger, black vinegar.
Lemongrass chicken, galangal broth, soft herb salad.
Thai jasmine white rice.

This place is what food dreams are made of. We are all a bit quieter in conversation when the food arrives oooohhhing & aaahhhing. The caramelised pork hock was our favorite, it was crispy on the outside and soft & gooey in the centre. The combination of the sweet & sour worked so well together. The fish we thought was another beautiful dish. Crispy on the outside and moist once you pull it apart. It's hard to flaw any of the dishes, longrain is simply perfection!
